Harpenden Day Nursery is an ideal location for commuters, situated close to the mainline station. However, it offers so much more than convenience - converted from an old police station, its spacious, bright rooms decorated with colourful displays provide a secure, happy environment for children from 3 months to 5 years.
Inside, our six rooms are well equipped with toys and equipment designed for children of all age groups. Our qualified and experienced staff team plan a range of stimulating and enjoyable activities to enable each child to develop to their full potential. Continuous provision and free-flow allows children to access all areas and follow their own interests. We also enjoy making use of the local resources such as the library, shops and park.
We have two cosy Baby Rooms that take children from 3 months to 12 months - the smaller room accommodates up to 4 babies, whilst the larger room accommodates up to 9 babies. Our staff team are dedicated to meeting and following each babies’ routine, in partnership with parents, to create a home from home feel where possible. Our wide variety of toys, equipment and activities are designed to enhance babies’ sensory development.
Our Toddler Room accommodates up to 7 children from 12 months to 2 years. The children have access to a range of resources and activities designed to enhance all areas of their learning and development, including creative, physical and emotional development.
Our Little Walker Room is designed for children aged 18 months to 2 years and can accommodate up to 11 children. Our activities and resources provide plenty of opportunities to enhance children’s balancing and walking skills along with all other areas of their development.
Our large 2 to 3’s Room takes up to 10 children. The room is divided into two areas where children have access to sand and water trays, messy and creative play, role play, construction play and much more. Our Key Persons plan a wide variety of daily activities designed to meet each individual child’s development needs and interests.
Our busy, exciting Pre-School Room takes up to 16 children aged 3 to 5 years. We focus on preparing children for the transition to school through a range of play, first hand experiences, and planned activities designed to enhance their social, communication, language and literacy skills. Children are encouraged to develop their independence by selecting resources and activities of interest to them.
All our nutritional meals are freshly prepared onsite following Asquith’s recipes. Staff eat with the children at each meal time to demonstrate table manners and social skills. We also cater for dietary requirements and preferences.
Outside, a lovely garden with a lawn and area of safety flooring offers plenty of opportunities for exploration and fun. Babies and toddlers play safely in their own private patio area, while the over twos enjoy a separate playground, climbing area, and digging area.
